Summary:
The QA Food Safety and Quality Coordinator provides technical and administrative assistance for Oilseeds Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs. Essential functions are: lead Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) compliance and lead company through Audit Programs. Externally this role works with suppliers (domestic and international), facilities and regulatory agencies. Internally this position interacts closely with sales, logistics and risk management.
Key Responsibility Areas (but not limited to):
- Own and prepare varieties of documentation and reports requested from customers to fulfill their needs in timely manner, examples include but not limited to: FSMA related documentation, guarantees from manufacturers, country of origin, non-GMO documentation, Kosher and Halal certifications, Organic certification and new customer set-up.
- Monitor and update documentations, all licenses and fees applicable and ensure that our suppliers/facilities are in compliance with all regulatory agencies.
- Update and review Food Safety and Quality programs. Track the effectiveness of these programs including standards, training and quality documentation.
- Update and review ingredient specification and supplier approval, product information, questionnaires and samples.
- File annual organic applications with QAI. Monitor and keep the record of Organic business and attend annual audit.
- Attention to detail combined with a full understanding of process flow for products managed.
- Interface with other departments to ensure that company business initiatives meet quality, regulatory and food safety standards.
- Write and issue the reports to management. Monitor the reporting logs and corrective actions to be taken.
- Work with Logistics/Supply Chain Specialist to monitor inventory and position control including supply chain.
- Assist with Manager of Domestic Logistics on database implantation for contracts, settlement, and positioning.
- Arrange logistics in addition to usual documentation for our other specialty products, such as Certificates, Licenses, etc. for Organic Products.
- Respond to customer/supplier inquiries, provide guidance and resolution, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Assist management as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field is required.
- Knowledge of Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Food Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI), Audit Programs (SQF, BRC, etc.) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
- 3+ years of experience in quality assurance and food safety in the food industry preferred.
- Currently certified or be willing and able to become certified on the job, HACCP/HARPC, SQF and/or PCQI certification.
- Ability to problem solve and propose solutions to management. Keep awareness of the business objectives and company profitability.
- Team-oriented and contributes to a positive work atmosphere. Likes to engage effectively with all levels and styles of employees and management.
- Communicates effectively and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to manage projects independently.
- Maintains excellent attendance; we require working in the office 2 days per week.

- Proficient software user, experience with general ledger entry, MS Office and good working knowledge of Excel.
